Acts: The Spread of the Gospel

This study is taken from John MacArthur's "Acts: The Spread of the Gospel." My prayer and goal for this devo is that we will learn more about how the early church laid the foundation for what we possess today, and that we would allow God to use us to turn our world upside for Him!

This will be an exciting journey, so encourage others to join you! I'm looking forward to the interaction we will have on this blog as we study the book of Acts!

The devos will differ in format from day to day, but two things are constant: 1) a daily reading, and 2) additional Scripture passages that are in bold. Be sure to read any and all of the readings/bold verses that appear so that you can see the full picture of what is taught that day.

John 18:38-19:16

Responsive Questions
1. Pilate obviously is trying to release Jesus. What specific attempts does he make?
2. How does it make you feel when you read the record of injustice done toward Jesus?
3. What can you conclude about Pilate's character after reading this passage?
4. The Jews' true charge against Jesus comes out in verse 7. Why do you think Pilate reacts to that statement the way he does (19:8-9)?
5. Why doesn't Jesus say more to Pilate and defend himself more vigorously (19:9-11)?
6. What does this passage teach you about how to respond when you are treated injustly?

responsive questions:

1. pilate tells them that he doesnt see any reason to kill him but he asked if they wanted Jesus back and the people told him to give them barabbas instead.

2.i think its terible cuz i mean he made them and Jesus could have killed them at any moment but he didnt....i think there were stupid but it was part of Gods plan and they were only human so..

3.i think he believed that Jesus is the son of God and didnt want him to be killed but he was a people pleaser and soo he just said ok u can kill him but he has done no wrong so that the people wouldnt get mad at pilate.

4.because he doesnt want to hang Jesus but he wants to keep the people happy.

5.well Jesus' knows that this is Gods plan and that he has to die so why try to get himself out of it if he knows he's gonna die anyway and that he needs to die.

6.trust God and know tha i am in his plan.

1.He tried to bargain with them about killing Him beause Pilate knew that He was innocent.He gave them options.
2.frustrated that they couldn´t see what they were doingthey were blinded,yet sad for them at the same time
3.He was easily swayed.He was more concerned about His job than the life of an innocent man.
4.He wanted Jesus to be let free.He told Him that He had the power to let Him go.
5.He knew God´s plan,and did what needed to be done to fullfil that plan.
6.Don´t lash out and become irrational.Trust that God plan will be done.

Responsive questions

1)The pilate was trying to stand up for Jesus because he knew tha Jesus was innocent.

2)Sad because what they were doing to my(are) God.

3)I thought that the pilate was a person who stood up for his beliefs but he gave up because he knew there was nothing going to change there mind. Also I think he beileve in God.

4)He didn't really know what side he was on.

5)He knew that this would happen.

6)To trust God with your heart and believe in him.

1. well he brings out a bad dude and wants to see witch one they want to release.
2. really really bad because he is their creator and they hate him.
3. i think that he wanted to change their mind to his beliefs but they didnt budge so he just gave up.
4. because he doesnt want to hange Jesus but he wants his people to be happy.
5. well because he knew he was going to die well he diceded he was going down swinging.
6. well just to trust God and follow Him because i am in his plan and he will protect me.
