Acts: The Spread of the Gospel

This study is taken from John MacArthur's "Acts: The Spread of the Gospel." My prayer and goal for this devo is that we will learn more about how the early church laid the foundation for what we possess today, and that we would allow God to use us to turn our world upside for Him!

This will be an exciting journey, so encourage others to join you! I'm looking forward to the interaction we will have on this blog as we study the book of Acts!

The devos will differ in format from day to day, but two things are constant: 1) a daily reading, and 2) additional Scripture passages that are in bold. Be sure to read any and all of the readings/bold verses that appear so that you can see the full picture of what is taught that day.

Joseph: 17-30 - Let's Meet Poor, Pitiful Mrs. Potiphar - Devo for 09/27/08

Reading
Genesis 39:6-23

Questions
1. Mrs. Potiphar had an impressive position. She had everything that it takes to impress others...popularity, position, possessions, and power...but nothing to impress God.

a. What is most important in your life---what others say about you or what God says about you?
b. Do you think you have fallen into the same trap as Mrs. Potiphar in trying to impress friends with popularity or things?
c. When you shop for clothes, do you choose clothes that will get the attention of others and violate modesty or communication principles?
d. Read Galatians 1:10 and explain how important it is to realize that we have no one to impress and only One to please.

d. If we tried to impress men, then we wouldn't be servants of God.We can't have to Lords. We need to please God.

c. no i dont want to be unmodest but i do look for what will impress people.

c.communication principles, i get stuff that is modest and what I like.

a.ooh thats hard.....well im not really a people pleaser, either u like me or dont, but i dont think i worry about what God thinks about me as much as i should.

b.umm i think sometimes i have moments, but im not ver materialistic cuz i have seen what it has done to people and they are never happy.

c.no cuz i dont think i look good in those clothes and i dont want people seeing me like that.

d.if we are trying really hard to please men then we are serving men not God and man didnt make us God did.
