Acts: The Spread of the Gospel

This study is taken from John MacArthur's "Acts: The Spread of the Gospel." My prayer and goal for this devo is that we will learn more about how the early church laid the foundation for what we possess today, and that we would allow God to use us to turn our world upside for Him!

This will be an exciting journey, so encourage others to join you! I'm looking forward to the interaction we will have on this blog as we study the book of Acts!

The devos will differ in format from day to day, but two things are constant: 1) a daily reading, and 2) additional Scripture passages that are in bold. Be sure to read any and all of the readings/bold verses that appear so that you can see the full picture of what is taught that day.

Remember, you can access any of the previous devos that have been posted from the "Blog Archive" section on the left side of this page.

Message to the Churches, Part 1 - Part 5 - Devo for 01/09/2009

Reading
Revelation 2:1-29

Going Deeper
Unfaithfulness and hypocrisy among God's people is nothing new. For more insight about how the world can affect the church, read 1 John 2:15-17.

Exploring the Meaning
1. How is the world system defined in this passage? What does it mean to love the world?

2. What antidote does 1 John 2 provide to guard against being led astray, like the church of Pergamos was?

3. Read Matthew 18:15-17. Why is it so important for the church to address sin in its midst? What is the right way to do this, according to Christ's teaching?

1.it says that if you love the world then you dont love the Father.to lust after the things it holds, but mostly to lust after the things that are wrong and dont please the Lord.

2.well, i think it says to love the Father instead because you cant love both the world and the Father.

3.so it doesnt spread around to others. you go talk to him about it alone first, then take like 2 other witnesses, then tell the church and if he doesnt listen then theres not muc helse u can do.

~well it means...if you love the world that God does not love you like he wolud love you if you loved Him like love the world!
i think

~well that you have to choose-love toward the Father or the world-because you cant love both!

~well it is important because we need to stick together and not hold something between our fellow brother or sister, and the right way to do this is by going stright to the person and talk to them about what ever happend and not to go and talk to other people about what happend!!i know that i have done this in the past and im not proud of it because it just drug people who didnt need to be in it into it and it hurt some friendships!!

1. It basically means to love the bad things we just to do when we were on the world. It means to stick and not letting go of the things that are not right but our flesh likes to do.

2. Having a good relationship with God, following his word and staying strong in our faith. We need to abide in God.

3. So that we don't diverge from the path that God has for us. We need to confront the other person personally and if he doesn't listen have to or mare help you talk to him. And if he doesn't listen address it to the church.

1. it says not to love the world because if you love the world then the love of the father is not in you. if you love the world God will not love you.
2. love God and not the world.
3. it says to talk to that person alone if he does not listen to you then bring 2 or 3 people with you if that person does not listen to them then go to the church and if that person does not listen to the church then treat him as you would a pagan or a tax collector.
i think he says to talk to Him and pray about it.

It sais that you can't serve two masters. to love your materials more than the Lord.

Choose who your gana serve.

Because if they dont it will grow and take over the churchTell the church first alone and then together with one other person then the whole congrigation.
